Includes six ORIGINAL and CLUB mixes. Canadian born and bred HIBERNATE (nee Joey Borg) grew up listening to The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Cream and other 60s/70s rock. Strumming his first guitar strings at the age of 15, and soon thereafter, journeying through a largely influential psychedelic phase, Joey was taking all the right measures in planting the origins of what his sound was to evolve into. During this time, Joey also enjoyed heavier music like thrash, speed metal, and death metal. He dabbled in grunge, and took up studying jazz at York University in Toronto. But it was the eye-opening experience provided by the late 90’s rave scene that truly forged the sound that was to become HIBERNATE. Within a year of his exposure to clubbing and electronic music he began releasing dance music as HIBERNATE, and his productions were soon championed by some the worlds most famous DJs, including Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold. HIBERNATE’s progressive house anthems "Transcanada", "Advent", and "Mane Sonitus" were a staple to trance DJs everywhere. He toured North America several times over, bringing his music to the masses. "What I do is essentially pop rock type melodies over electronic dance music orientated beats...sweet breaks or flowing housey rhythms. Also, recently I've been listening to a lot of the 80s British groups, such as The Cure, The Smiths and Echo and the Bunnymen - even some Duran Duran. I think it’s starting to show in my tunes, which is a good thing in my opinion," notes Borg. And so, a new sound has emerged.
